Dodd Road office with deep green paneled walls and ceiling, seen through glass double doors, with a brass chandelier and a pair of tall windows

The brief

The builder asked for a modern home that still felt warm and inviting, with a mix of wood tones and bold, moody colors.

Decisions that shaped it

  • Bold cabinetry colors.
  • A moody powder bath with a wall-mounted faucet.
  • The tile layouts in the primary bath.
  • Wall moulding in the office.

What I love most: The moody, color-drenched office, with its custom wall trim and brass light fixture.

Kitchen with white oak cabinetry, a plaster range hood, a long island with four stools, and a dining area beyond
Primary bedroom with a vertical slat accent wall, clerestory windows, stained ceiling beams, and a woven pendant
Primary bath with a white oak vanity, brass fixtures, an arched mirror, and a walk-in shower with square tile
Secondary bath with a sage green double vanity, brass-framed mirrors and sconce, a black and white star tile floor, and a view into the bedroom
Upper stair landing with black metal railings, a white plank ceiling, and a sculptural black chandelier
Lower-level bar with green vertical stacked tile, warm wood slab cabinetry and floating shelves, a dark stone counter, glass globe pendants, and a dining table beside glass doors
